Notary Reviews-The Good Bad and Carrie Rivera
Carrie Rivera, a Chicago-based paralegal & notary has made a name for herself in the notary niche with her membership site. Her site is called "Notary Reviews; The Good The Bad The Ugly."
Her reviews forum is something of a $60 paid annual membership site where notaries and signing agents can discuss the low-ball signing companies. As we have recently decided to expand our "multi-service" mobile notary business into a signing service ourselves I have begun to audit and evaluate the methods, tactics, operations, and overall philosophy of other notary agencies. Actually, while compiling data that has allowed us to strategize our business model, we have been blogging and shooting videos of various notary services on one of our YouTube channels.
We are striving to raise the industry standard as well as shake things up. We will always pay the larger portion of the spread on an appointment to the notary which is more than I can say for most. The industry is stale, full of vultures, and some Kool-aid as well. While I tend to agree with Carrie that there are subpar signing services that take advantage of notaries, I also think 2 things are important for notaries to consider:
Once you accept an appointment you have an opportunity to create lifetime repeat business and referrals from that person you've met. In digital sales, we would consider this a "Trip Wire Offer". Take the low-ticket because your book of business wins in the long run. Now this doesn't excuse the actions of cheapskate title companies with in-house signing services by any means. But you should evaluate this phenomenon when deciding the fruitfulness of the notary signing job.
Get your own leads. Using a signing service should be an initial means to nurture your mobile notary business, but you need the skill set of lead generation. At some point, you need to "leave the nest" so to speak. We teach multiple viable methods of accomplishing this in our flagship NPA training in addition to furnishing a list of 425 signing services so you can be choosey!
In closing, I hope as our fledgling signing service grows, and we aim to create a win-win for everyone we meet, Noble Notary Signing Service Agency is added to the "good" list!
